What else you may need
-
Correct 5VDC 24W adapter for your region, for which you should have seen a link when you ordered your board
Warning! Check that your power supply is 5V, not 12V. The plug ends are identical, so look at the adapter ratings plate before continuing!
-
USB-A to Micro-B cable, for connection from your host PC to the Debug USB port (micro USB receptacle) of your ARTIK board (or choose a different cable if your host PC does not use a USB-A plug end)
-
Connection to local Wi-Fi® (you can get started without this if needed)
-
USB cables with correct plugs to mate between your host platform and certain board-specific USB ports you may eventually want to use (you won't need these right away)
-
HDMI micro-to-standard cable (if you have an ARTIK 530, 710, or 1020 and plan to connect an HDMI display)
Board Details
Look in the Datasheets section for documentation on the boards and modules.
ARTIK modules are STATIC-SENSITIVE DEVICES. Make sure you ground yourself and observe proper anti-ESD safeguards when handling modules and development boards.
Kits using ARTIK 530, 710, "s" Modules
ARTIK 530 and 710 modules come in standard and "s" (secure) versions. The modules look very similar, and the layout of the Interposer boards they are mounted on appears identical. "s" type modules are identified by blue labelling.
We'll typically use images of the ARTIK 710 board throughout this guide to reference all module variants.

Board Reference
Interposer Board
The Interposer board holds the ARTIK module itself and provides video and wireless connectivity.

Platform Board
The Platform board attaches to the underside of the Interposer board to provide additional interface circuitry.

Interface Board
The Interface board, shown attached to the Interposer and Platform board assembly, breaks out the external interface signals to larger connectors. Looking for information on Arduino signals? We have a mapping chart here.

Optional Accessory Boards
The following add-ons are offered for purchase separately from the development kit.

Module Certifications
Refer to ARTIK Certifications for information on board certifications.
Antennas
It is good practice to attach antennas before powering the board to prevent signal ringing from possibly damaging a radio circuit.
ARTIK 530 and ARTIK 710 Antennas
There are two antennas included in the developer kit, one for ZigBee® and one for Wi-Fi®/Bluetooth®. Both are identical and interchangeable. The red stripes are removable rubber bands.

ARTIK 520 and ARTIK 1020 Antennas
There are four antennas included in the developer kit - three long antennas and one short antenna.
- The three long antennas are used on the Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, and ZigBee antenna connectors. All are identical. The red stripes are removable rubber bands.
- The short antenna is not used.
Here are the antenna locations for the ARTIK 5 Ver. 0.5 developer board. The locations are the same on the ARTIK 10 ver 0.5 developer board.

Note that the coax connectors mounted on the developer board and connected to the ARTIK module with cables are passthroughs. You may rearrange the cables if needed. The illustrated setup will result in the best signals, however.
Antenna Specifications
The long antennas supplied with the ARTIK developer kit are of the following specifications.
